Forget Me Not weddingsCoopers Shoot, Byron Bay hinterland

Forget Me Not is a 100-acre working cattle farm at Coopers Shoot, with manicured gardens, rainforest plantings, open lawns and a lake filled with water lilies. The timber jetty and small rowboat give the waterfront its character, while ceremony choices range from shaded garden spaces to the more secluded chapel area. Larger weddings can use a marquee, and the permanent WaterShed pavilion offers a more intimate reception space overlooking the water.

The property feels private, but it is only around ten minutes from Byron Bay and four minutes from Bangalow. Four self-contained farm cottages allow a small group to stay onsite, which makes the venue practical for couples bringing family or friends into the region.

It is a farm first and a wedding venue second, and that is what keeps it from feeling styled — the cattle are still in the next paddock while you have your photographs taken.

PHOTOGRAPHING a wedding at FORGET ME NOT

There is a lot to work with without the property feeling like a collection of staged photo spots. Formal gardens and rainforest paths give soft, shaded light; the paddocks, fences, cattle and horses keep the farm visible; and the lake brings reflections, open sky and a quieter mood around the jetty.

The landscape changes noticeably late in the day, especially from the higher parts of the farm when the light moves across the hills. The WaterShed’s glass walls and broad verandah keep the lake and gardens in view while also providing a strong option in wet weather. After dark, the water and surrounding lights give the reception a softer, more intimate feel.

If you are getting married here, hold twenty minutes for the top paddock. It is a short buggy ride and it is the frame the whole gallery is built around.
