EarthHouse weddingsClunes, Byron Bay hinterland
EarthHouse sits high on a ridge outside Clunes, on 110 acres overlooking the Corndale Valley and the Nightcap Ranges. The main hall is built from rammed earth, with a cathedral ceiling, exposed timber trusses, polished concrete floors and an open fireplace. Outside, stone walls, broad lawns, established gardens and a century-old fig tree give the property the settled feel of a place that has grown into its landscape.
It is secluded without being especially remote: around ten minutes from Bangalow and twenty-five minutes from Byron Bay. Boutique accommodation is available on the property, while the villages and beaches of the Byron region give guests plenty of nearby places to stay.
The venue is deliberately a blank canvas — you bring your own caterer, hire and styling. That means more decisions than an all-inclusive property, and more control over how the day actually runs.

PHOTOGRAPHING a wedding at EARTHHOUSE
Warm, earthy and uncluttered. The old fig gives shade, scale and a natural ceremony setting, while the ridge gives long views across the valley and layered hills beyond. When the landscape feels too broad, the stonework and gardens offer more contained backgrounds a few steps away.
Inside, the rammed-earth walls and heavy timber ceiling bring texture without making the room dark or rustic. The hall opens onto a wide verandah above the valley, so the light changes beautifully through the afternoon and the view stays part of the reception. It is also a genuinely useful wet-weather venue rather than a property that relies entirely on its grounds.
The thing worth protecting in the run sheet is the last half hour of sun on the ridge. Because you set the catering timings here yourself, that is easier to arrange than at most venues — ten minutes out of canapés at the right moment is the difference between good portraits and the best of the day.
