The Acre weddingsBoomerang Hills, Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast hinterland

The Acre Boomerang Hills, formerly Boomerang Farm, is an all-in-one wedding venue in Mudgeeraba, built around tropical gardens and a restored 1902 barn. Couples can choose between the open Ceremony Lawn and the more enclosed Rainforest Deck, then move through drinks on the grounds and into the barn for dinner and dancing. A dedicated Bridal Parlour and on-site catering, styling and coordination give it genuine character without making the day feel difficult to organise.

It feels tucked into the Gold Coast hinterland without being far from the coast. Gold Coast Airport is around twenty minutes away, and the beaches and accommodation of the central and southern Gold Coast are within easy reach. Brisbane and Byron Bay are each roughly an hour away, making it practical for guests arriving from either direction.

PHOTOGRAPHING a wedding at THE ACRE

The contrast is the appeal. The Rainforest Deck is shaded and enclosed by dense foliage; the Ceremony Lawn is brighter and more open; and the old barn brings weathered timber, corrugated metal and warm, low light. Palms, large trees, garden paths and open grass give enough variety without making portraits feel like a tour of the property.

The canopy is useful through the brighter part of the day, when much of the venue stays soft and green rather than harsh. Later, the open lawns catch the evening light before the photographs move into the darker, more atmospheric barn. It suits candid, relaxed coverage, with guests remaining close together from ceremony through to reception.
