Maleny Manor is a private 30-acre estate on the eastern edge of Maleny, with a crisp white manor overlooking the Sunshine Coast hinterland and out towards Mount Coolum. There are three ceremony settings: beneath the Crows Ash tree, in the sandstone-paved Pavilion or on the elevated grass Helipad. Drinks move to the festoon-lit garden before dinner inside the Manor, where floor-to-ceiling windows, a dance floor and fireplace keep the room connected to the view.

Seven ensuite rooms with private balconies allow the closest group to stay on the property, while the broader Maleny and Montville area has plenty of accommodation for guests. The location is close enough to Maleny township to be practical, but once inside the estate it feels private and self-contained.

This is hinterland weather country, and the estate handles it: the Pavilion and the Manor both work in rain without the day feeling like a fallback.

PHOTOGRAPHING a wedding at MALENY MANOR

Polished, light and expansive. The white exterior, steep gables, balconies and curved staircases give the photographs strong lines and a clean backdrop, while the lawns, old trees and long coastal view stop it feeling too formal. The Helipad is the obvious place for scale and late light; the Crows Ash is quieter and more shaded.

Inside, the getting-ready loft has good natural light, and the reception room’s full-height windows continue to work even when the weather changes. The sandstone Pavilion is more than a wet-weather compromise: its open sides frame the landscape and give the ceremony a softer, protected look.

If the hinterland fog rolls in, the drive and the rainforest edge become the best part of the day rather than a problem. There is enough architectural variety here to balance the big views either way.
