Destination Wedding Photographer FAQs
How much do you charge for destination weddings?
Generally I charge my package price plus flights, two nights’ accommodation, and two days’ car hire – $1000 is a good ballpark figure (my prices are in Australian dollars). But I’m always interested in new and exciting places to shoot, so make sure to get in touch and ask what I can do for you – you might be surprised! (UPDATE: currently waiving travel fees for Bali 2018!)
How many people do we need to fly out and accommodate?
Just me! Unless you want a wedding videographer as well, in which case I know some great ones, who I work with all the time.
Do I need to arrange your flights and accommodation and other things?
No. I travel all the time, and I sort all that stuff out myself.
Why should I choose you?
There are a lot of photographers all around the world. All I can suggest is that you look through my work and see if you feel a connection. I do my best to capture the feeling of each destination wedding I shoot, and to also capture the essence of the location in which it was shot. Also, in addition to the wedding day itself, all my destination packages include an extra shoot, either the day before or the day after, to shoot some special locations that may not be feasible on your wedding day, when time is limited. At the bottom of this page are some examples of locations I took my couples to.
I take my job seriously and work very hard not only to find special places to capture, but to get all the little details and candid moments on the day itself.
Please have a browse through my stories and if you feel there is something there that moves you, please get in touch!
What happens after the wedding, and how do we get our photos etc if we’re not located near you?
The majority of my couples live far away from me, so my production is tailored to suit. Firstly, I deliver all my images in an online client gallery. This gallery contains all your images in high resolution, all of them downloadable individually or as a whole, from wherever you are in the world. Your gallery is password-protected, so you can share with your family and friends if you want. Because your images are high-res and print-ready, you can download all or any of them and take them to your own printer, wherever you may be. The gallery is online for a minimum of 10 years, backed up in cold-cloud storage.
In addition, I send you a USB package via regular mail in a lovely carved camphor box.
The process of designing wedding albums is also streamlined for destination weddings. After you favourite some of your gallery images, I design an album draft and send it to you via an online album previewer. This is connected to your gallery, so it’s a simple process to drag and drop photos from your gallery to the album proof to show me what changes you want to make. I then redesign your album and send you a second draft, and a third, until you’re happy with the final design. Then I order the book to print and send out your wedding album (which are printed and bound in the US by – in my opinion – the best wedding album makers in the world).
